Rain and radiance

What a beautiful rain we enjoyed Friday night and Saturday! After 67 straight days of dry and sun (or something like that), it was a very welcome surprise to receive so much moisture. I hadn’t believed the weather reports about any significant rainfall, so it was especially delightful to hear the steady pattering of raindrops all night, enough to soak the soil with at least an inch of moisture, and leave the garden and pastures glistening and refreshed.

Our friends Andy and Melissa of Hidden Penny Farm were married yesterday on their farm on Black Diamond Road. All year they have been tending their garden rows with an eye toward highlighting the special venue of their farm for the wedding ceremony and banquet. All of their hard work was glorified when the rain made the beds as beautiful and radiant for the wedding as Andy and Melissa themselves.

We were proud to offer the roasting hog for the wedding feast, our first opportunity to eat one of our own Tamworth hogs roasted on a spit. It was scrumptious.
